The platform

One mod. One RDA.
Three glass configurations.

Everything above the deck is interchangeable. Swap the glass, and the same machine becomes a different instrument. All three glass tops ship in every kit, so there is nothing to choose between. The hardware is built with Cthulhu Mods: their Craftsman mod, rebranded for Portal, and a custom RDA they machined for this kit.

Cylinder

The straight, direct path. Shortest travel, most familiar.

Bulb

The largest visible chamber. You can watch the vapor form as you draw.

Percolator

The vapor runs through water inside the bulb before it reaches you.

The glass

Three tops. Mouthpiece built in.

Each glass top is one intact piece of hand-blown borosilicate, bent mouthpiece included. Pull one off, press the next one on.

Airflow

Air enters at the bottom,
and moves straight through the mesh.

The intake holes are machined into the RDA itself, directly beneath the screen. Air comes up through them, straight through the mesh, for a denser, more visible plume. You do not need to adjust anything while you draw.

INTAKE

Holes in the RDA

Machined into the deck just beneath the screen. Air hits the mesh face-on. No side-wash, no dead corners.

MESH

Through the screen

The full surface of the mesh heats at the same time, so the heat and the draw are even.

VENT

Top Airflow Vent

An included vent ring mounts above the deck for a lighter, airier draw. Swaps in seconds.

The screen

The screen is flat and pre-cut.

It is an SS316L mesh screen, mounted flat in the deck. There is no hand-bending and no shaping. Twenty screens ship in the box, ten in each of two widths. The narrower width comes installed; swap widths for a different airflow and resistance profile.

The window

The window shows the coil and circuit board.

These are the same coil and board that every unit ships with. When you draw, the vapor is visible in the glass above them.

Setup

Setup has four steps.

01

Mod off for screen changes

Install screens with the mod off. Every time.

02

Seat it with a slight bow

The screen should bow slightly upward, never resting flat on the deck.

03

Condition a new screen

Fire a fresh screen to red heat in short bursts at 30 W. Let it cool fully, then restart the mod so it reads the settled screen.

04

Battery, positive end first

Seat the 18650 positive end first, pushed fully down.

Wraps & panels

Wrap the battery. Swap the panels.

Every kit's 18650 wears a printed wrap. Peel it, apply it, swap it when you want a new look. The side panels pop off and trade the same way. Sticker sheets ship in every kit too: for the battery, and to sit beneath the side panels. The window stays for one job: watching the vapor.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Q-01Do I have to choose between the three builds?+
No. Every kit ships with all three glass tops: Cylinder, Bulb, and Percolator, plus the Top Airflow Vent. You swap them in seconds and keep whichever is on that day's mood.
Q-02Which battery should I buy?+
US kits include one in the box: an EVE INR18650/30P, 3000 mAh, flat top. International kits ship without a battery, because loose lithium cells are classed as dangerous goods for international transport and we cannot ship them across borders. Buy a single 18650 locally from a reputable brand, rated 15 A continuous minimum, 20 A or higher preferred.
Q-03How does the Percolator work?+
Add just enough water to cover the percolator's inlet, seat the top like any other, and draw. The vapor runs through the water before it reaches you. Pour the water out when you're done. The glass rinses clean.
Q-04How do I clean the glass?+
Warm water and isopropyl alcohol. Rinse, let it dry completely, and it's back to new. The glass tops are one piece each, so there are no crevices to fight.
Q-05What happens when I run through the twenty screens?+
Replacement packs are available from us. The screen is a flat, laser-cut piece of standard 200-mesh SS316L. Flat-mounting it is the whole trick, and it's why replacements stay simple and cheap.
Q-06Why fixed wattage instead of temperature control?+
Because the screen is standardized, wattage is the control. Every unit runs the same screen in the same clamp in the same 14–24 W band, so the result is repeatable without a control loop guessing for you. The mod does have a temperature control mode. We tested alongside it but never tuned it in, so we only publish wattage settings. And because every unit is identical, ideal temp-control settings are something the community can now work out on shared hardware.
Q-07Do you ship internationally?+
Yes, without the battery. Loose lithium cells are classed as dangerous goods for international air transport, so the battery ships in US kits only. Buy the 18650 in your own country.
Q-08What if something arrives broken?+
Anything that arrives damaged or defective gets replaced. Write to us, include a photo, and a replacement part goes out.
Q-09Who builds the hardware?+
Cthulhu Mods. The mod is their Craftsman, rebranded for Portal with metallic buttons, and the RDA is a custom deck they machined for this kit. The glass is sourced to the same spec. An established builder the community already knows, not a no-name factory.
The give

A portion of every kit is donated.

Portal exists because we think the instrument matters. Heroic Hearts Project exists because the people who need healing the most can rarely reach it. They're a registered 501(c)(3) that connects military veterans living with PTSD to legal, guided psychedelic-assisted therapy: retreat programs, preparation coaching, and the research that keeps widening the door.

They've walked more than a thousand veterans and their spouses through those programs. A portion of every Portal kit is donated to fund a veteran's place in one.

You get an instrument. Someone who carried more than most of us gets a real shot at setting it down.
